Michel Barrette - BIOGRAPHY
Il commence à faire de l'improvisation au début des années 1980. Au printemps 1983, il quitte son emploi à la caisse populaire et commence à jouer dans la pièce Old Orchard, connaît pas du théâtre d'été Le Bleuet1. La même année, il incarne pour la toute première fois son personnage « Roland Hi ! Ha ! Tremblay » lors d'un festival à Alma. Il fait plusieurs apparitions au Festival Juste pour rire de Montréal. Son personnage fétiche sera également adapté en bande dessinée dans le magazine Croc avec Les aventures de Hi ! Ha !. Après plusieurs spectacles en duo avec Jean-Marc Parent, il devient en 1987-88 co-animateur de l'émission Casse-tête du réseau de télévision TVA. Il réalise son premier spectacle de conteur solo au printemps 1989, incarnant le personnage de Roland Hi ! Ha ! Tremblay. La même année, il lance l'album Le Temps d'une dinde dont la pochette comprend un chapeau détachable du personnage de Hi ! Ha !. En trois ans, l'album s'écoule à environ 250 000 exemplaires2. C'est un collectionneur exceptionnel, notamment d'objets des années 1950 et d'automobiles. En 2003, une tournée commémorative de ses 20 ans de carrière est amorcée. Cette tournée prend fin en 2005 et ce spectacle se retrouve maintenant en DVD. En 2006, il est nommé colonel honoraire3 de la base militaire de Bagotville pour une période de 3 ans. Depuis 2007, il coanime l'émission de variété Pour le plaisir aux côtés de France Castel sur les ondes de Radio-Canada1. Depuis mars 2006 il joue « Michel Barrette, 100 % neuf ».
